How do you know when it is time to hire a bookkeeper? When your bookkeeping time spent keeps you from other plans such as time spent on your business. Maybe you are not quite ready to hire a bookkeeper but could use an easier way of doing it. Look into Wave Apps, Xero or Quickbooks online. They have several things that can speed up bookkeeping.

It’s easy to say I can’t because of this situation or that. It’s good to be reminded that you still control what you do. “Yes, you're an imposter. So am I and so is everyone else. Superman still lives on Krypton and the rest of us are just doing our best.”
If you’re trying to do something worthwhile for someone else, you have most likely faces these thoughts too. Sometimes it’s nice to know it’s not just me. http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2017/10/imposter-syndrome.html I will not lie, I have disliked QuickBooks for many years. There are some benefits but mostly I have found QuickBooks to be too complicated for your average person to use. Because of that I have mostly promoted Xero to my accounting clients. However the more I have used QuickBooks self-employed, the more I like it. I come from a family of solo-entrepreneurs. My dad ran his own bricklaying business . My mom and dad together ran a kennel together. Both of my daughters run small businesses. None of them are accountants. QuickBooks self employed is not overly complicated. It helps you track business miles and expenses. It still gives you the up to date on where your business stands with a nice landing page. https://youtu.be/VT8Gaz0SSrM Think about it. What can you do in the time you do bookkeeping? What would that do for your business, or for your sanity? Just because you can do it, does not mean you should. There is only so much time in the day. Would your business be better off if someone else did ABC task?
Prioritize your business. What is your goal? Make a certain amount of money? Spend more time with your family? Is what your doing now moving you closer to that goal? Do you know?
In listening to a podcast, Thrivecast Episode 69. I was blown away by a simple idea presented. There is an aspect of research and development in service industries. As small business owners we can spend so much time down in the weeds that we forget to develop our people, ourselves, or our processes. Are you teaching people skills? Developing customer service skills?
